    HOW TO IDENTIFY THE COMMON FAULTS OF ELECTRIC FAN MOTOR

    Some basic knowledge in this article can be useful for electric fan manufacturers and distributors in recognizing common faults in electric fan motors as well as understanding more about self-repair methods.

     

    1. Motor has a rattling sound:

    • The problem arises when the belts used to wrap around the electromagnetic coils have not been handled carefully, when the motor is running, it has rubbed against the internal radiator fins, creating a rattling sound.

        ►  Repair:

    • Correct the position of the belts which have the problem, then, the problem of that sound will be solved.

     
    2. Mechanically stiffened motor shaft:

    • The error occurs when the motor shaft is misaligned and out of alignment, there may be a collision during transportation or the motor was dropped.

        ►  Repair:

    • Using a small hammer to knock on the 4 sides of the front cover can improve the stiffness of the core shaft.


    3. Motor does not run:

    • One of the most common problems in electric motors. This problem can occur because the solenoid has been broken or because the capacitor is damaged after a long time of use. If the motor uses a fuse, it is also possible that the fuse has blown.

        ►  Repair:

    • It is possible to reconnect the broken position on the coil, replace the capacitor with the same parameter if the capacitor is damaged. In the event of a fuse blown, the manufacturer should be contacted for assistance.

     
    4. Motor gearbox does not work:

    • This can happen when one of the sprockets inside the gearbox is misaligned and doesn't make contact with the rear teeth of the shaft.

        ►  Repair:

    • Remove the gearbox cover, then reposition it manually so that the sprocket and tooth line are in contact.

     
    5. The shafting of the motor is rusted:

    • Although the manufacturer has applied an anti-rust oil on the shaft body when manufacturing, but when consumers unintentionally hold the shaft, it will oxidize and cause the shaft to rust. There is also this case: after a long period of use, an anti-rust oil layer that fades over time will also cause the shaft to rust.

        ►  Repair:

    • Sandpaper can be used to treat oxidation stains on the core shaft.

     
    6. Motor works with slow speed:

    • This problem occurs because the capacitor used for a long time has decreased in value (capacitance).

        ►  Repair:

    • Replace with new capacitor, motor will work normally again.
