I.   WHAT IS A 3-PHASE ELECTRIC MOTOR?

      1.   Definition:

Unlike single-phase electric motors, three phase electric motor is a type of asynchronous machine using 3-phase alternating current, commonly used in industries and large production lines.

The 3-phase current in the motor, when flowing through the electromagnet placed on a circle, will obviously create a rotating magnetic field. The windings are also arranged similarly to the lines in a 3-phase generator. However, in the three phase electric motor, the current from the outside is brought into the coils 1, 2, 3.

While a 3-phase AC motor is connected to a 3-phase grid, a rotating magnetic field is also created to make the rotor rotate on the shaft. The rotor movement has been carried out by the machine shaft and is used to operate machine tools or other moving mechanisms.

      2.   Structure of 3-phase electric motor:

The motor consists of two core parts: stator and rotor. Stator consists of windings of three electrical phases wound on iron cores arranged on a circular ring to create a rotating magnetic field. The cylindrical rotor acts as a coil wound on a steel core.

When the motor is connected to the AC network, the rotating magnetic field caused by the stator causes the rotor to rotate on the shaft. The rotation of the rotor is transmitted outward by the machine shaft and is used to operate machine tools or other moving mechanisms.

      3.   Operating principle of 3-phase electric motor:

Operating principle of the 3-phase AC motor is: when 3-phase current with frequency f is brought into 3 stator windings, they will generate a rotating magnetic field with a speed of n1 = 60f/p. This rotating magnetic field cuts the rods of the rotor windings and induces electromotive forces. The rotor windings are closed circuit. Therefore, the induced electromotive force induces current in the rotor conductors. The mutual force of the rotating magnetic field of the machine and the rotor carrying the rotor current makes the rotor rotate at a speed n < n1 and in the same direction as n1. Rotor n always has a rotational speed less than that of the rotating magnetic field n1. If their speeds are equal, there will be no electromotive force left in the rotor windings and induced current, the electromagnetic force will be zero. Sliding coefficient of speed: s = (n1-n)/n1 Speed of Motor: n= 60f/p.(1-s) (rpm).

II.   APPLICATIONS OF 3-PHASE ENGINE IN LIFE:

As we know, 3-phase electric motors are used widely in industries using 3-phase voltage at a frequency of 50Hz to help the motor operate in the most stable state.

Some of main applications of 3-phase electric motors are:

  • 3 phase water pump motor.
  • Alternator motor.
  • Deceleration motor motor.
  • Traction motor.
  • Beside that, Cuong Vinh has launched a 3-phase motor for Centrifugal Fan/ Shell Type Fan "LS003 - HU" which is used exclusively for the Air shower.

Along with beautiful design and standard specifications, the Centrifugal Fan/ Shell Type Fan "LS003 - HU" is a product code that is trusted and used by the majority of enterprises specializing in the air purifier industry.
